Definitely my favourite way to get around Bangkok - the BTS Skytrain takes you above the traffic and can cut huge amounts of time off your travel compared to travelling by car (we estimated at least an hour saved on one trip we took)
By the way - unless it's a one way trip, grab a day pass, it's almost always cheaper
